Angelina Jolie, original name Angelina
Jolie Voight, (born on June 4, 1975, Los Angeles, California, U.S.), American
actor and director renowned for her sex appeal and edginess as well as her
charitable work. Her part in Girl, Interrupted (1999) was the part she won for
the Academy Award. Jolie, the daughter of actor Jon Voight, spent most of her
childhood in New York. She moved to Los Angeles when she was 11. She attended
the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute for two years. She after that, she
enrolled at Beverly Hills High School. New York University later taught her
drama. Apart from acting in theatre productions, she was a model and featured
in music videos.Jolie's first major movie role was in Hackers (1995) which was
the filming process, she met her first husband, British actor Jonny Lee Miller
(married 1996; divorced 1999). The film was not able to attract an audience, as
did a series of subsequent movies. Jolie was the segregationist wife of
Alabama's governor. She received lots of attention in 1997. Jolie later won a
Golden Globe Award. She played the role of an actress who is struggling with
drug addiction in the HBO film Gia in 1999. This role earned her many awards,
including an award of the Golden Globe Award and Screen Actors Guild Award. In
1999, she was a part of the comedy Pushing Tin with John Cusack and Billy Bob
Thornton, and in the year following she got married to Thornton (divorced
2003).After the Oscar-winning turn in Girl, Interrupted, Jolie was a part of a
number of action films. In Gone in Sixty Seconds ((2000)) she played the role
of Nicole Cage's lover. She later changed her accent to a British accent, and
mastered combat sports and kickboxing to play the title roles in Lara Croft
Tomb Raider (2003) and Lara Croft Tomb Raider : The Cradle of Life (2004). In
2004, she played the mother of Alexander the Great in Oliver Stone's Alexander
and also appeared alongside Gwyneth Paltrow and Jude Law in Sky Captain and the
World of Tomorrow, a sci-fi thriller set in the 1930s of New York City. Both
films failed at the box office however Jolie scored a hit with Mr. &
Mrs. Smith (2005) in which she played an assassin posing as a typical
housewife. While working on the film, she came across Brad Pitt, who became her
partner.
